THE USE OF THE GOVERNING EQUATIONS IN DIMENSIONAL ANALYSIS
Abstract
An idea is developed that the most effective use of dimensional analysis in fluid mechanics is to combine it with the known mathematical form of the governing equations. It is shown that additional information can frequently be obtained in this way, especially when physical approximations can be reasonably made.
