PERIODIC ORBITS NEAR THE CRITICAL INCLINATION ANGLE

Abstract

The existence of periodic orbits near the critical inclination angle for the equations of motion of a satellite of an oblate planet are investigated. In the immediate neighborhood of the critical angle these periodic orbits are librations. The period of these orbits is shown to be extremely long.
