THE DAMPING OF ALUMINUM HONEYCOMB SANDWICH BEAMS

Abstract

The various sources of damping in a transversely vibrating plate of honeycomb construction are considered, and an expression is derived for the total ratio of an unjointed honeycomb sandwich beam. It is shown that the energy dissipation by reason of bending strain in the adhesive layer is of major importance. (Author-PL).
