ANALYSIS AND DESIGN OF FLEXIBLE UNDERGROUND STRUCTURES

Abstract

The original purpose of this investigation was to provide a protective shelter that could be constructed and occupied in a forward area within one weeks time by an engineer platoon with a normal strength (at the time this study was initiated) of 51 men. However, it should be pointed out that the structure as finally designed can be built and occupied by any troop unit of comparable strength with a minimum of engineer equipment, assistance and engineering supervision.
