Combat Effectiveness of Allied and German Troops in the World War 2 invasion of Crete

Abstract

An analysis is made of statistics pertaining to the landing of German troops, and landing br withdrawal of British and Allied troops during the invasion of Crete by the Germans in World War II, using information on total casualties experience on each side, and assumption that Lanchester's Law holds. The combat effectiveness of the average individual troops on each side are computed and compared with similar figures for the battle of Iwo Jima.
