INVESTIGATION OF STOWAGE HAZARDS IN AIR LAUNCHED MISSILE MAGAZINES: STOWAGE OF SPARROW MOTOR X113C7 (1.8 KS 7800)

Abstract

Hazards which may be inherent in the stowage of air launched missiles in shipboard magazines have been investigated. Results are presented of an evaluation of the stowage practices, arrangements, and protective equipment for the X113C7 SPARROW missile motor, to predict the probability of chain ignition of motors and warheads. Tests conducted simulated conditions in CVA 61 and 62 magazines. (Author)
