A Proposed Combat Surveillance Development Program for 1961-1966.

Abstract

Recommendations are presented for the updating of the U. S. Army Combat Surveillance Development Program for the time period 1961-1966. These recommendations are based upon an analysis of expected performance both of the product of the current development program and of potential candidates for inclusion in the program. Demonstrated and predicted performance of programmed and candidate items was measured against stated requirements and requirements inferred from Army guidance documents. The principal conclusion resulting from this analysis is that the current mid-range program represents a generally effective exploitation of the current technology, for developing a combat surveillance capability; consequently, many of the recommendations presented are concerned with studies and analyses required to make selections of equipments applicable to the latter part of the mid-range time frame.
