ACETAL PREPARATION IN SULFURIC ACID, II

Abstract

Formals and some acetals of negatively substituted alcohols, such as 2,2-dinitropropanol, the 2,2,2-trihaloethanols, etc. are easily prepared in high yield in strong H2SO4. Evidence is presented that the product is formed in equilibrium with the alcohol and aldehyde reactants. (Author)
