COMPARISONS OF THE UNDERWATER POWER OF EXPLOSIVES IN SMALL CHARGES. 7. A STUDY OF FACTORS AFFECTING THE POWER OF HBX-1

Abstract

The results are presented of a study to determine the cause of the observed decrease in the power of small charges of HBX-1 in the last 12 years. It was concluded that the changes in the method of charge preparation were responsible for decreases in the power of the explosive. A procedure for insuring reproducible performance of HBX-1 standards is recommended.
