Report on Laser Design Study.

Abstract

The design is discussed of a LASER system capable of delivering an output pulse of 1000 joules, in a time of 10 to the -7th power seconds with a beam spread of less than 10 to the -4th radians. The resultant design is not the simplest that could be invented, but it contains the features necessary to scale it up by a factor of 10,000 at a later date. The results of the design analysis indicate the feasibility of proceeding with the construction of a LASER cannon system at once. (Author)
