ESTIMATED INCAPACITATION PROBABILITIES OF CALIBER .14 BULLETS

Abstract

Caliber .14 spin-stabilized projectiles were fired into gelatin and measurements of the loss in velocity of the projectiles were obtained. The yaw angle at impact and the striking velocity were varied; these were related to the energy absorbed by the gelatin. The probability of incapacitation as a function of range was computed. The effect of two different nose shapes on the probability of incapacitation was studied.
