Radiological Safety for Operation Wigwam.

Abstract

Project 0.17 was established to serve as the sole radiological safety (Rad-Safe) support for Task Group 7.3 in its execution of Operation Wigwam. The Project personnel were trained and operated as a unified group, with duties and responsibilities extending to all sections of the Task Group. The dosage- and contamination control problems encountered were of a minimal nature. The maximum individual dosage en countered was approximately 10 per cent of that allowed for the Operation. The value of ex tensive planning and of the use of an integrated organization for Rad-Safe during field operations was demonstrated in this Operation and is in dicated for future operations.
