TERMINAL GUIDANCE SIMULATOR STUDY PROGRAM. VOL. I. BASIC REPORT

Abstract

The prpose of the simulation program is to study the feasibility of achieving high accuracy by means of human aid to a missile guidance sys tem during the transitional and terminal phases of flight. The equipment simulates and displays to human operators by means of closed circuit television and appropriate optical devices the view obtained from a nose-mounted, space-sta bilized television camera as the missile ap proaches the target area. The simulator provides the operators with a means of inserting dance commands which can be refined as the resolution increases when the missile approaches the target area. The scene viewed by the operator is pro duced by high resolution transparencies made from aerial photographs of ground terrain. (Author)
