Long Range Acoustic Missile Detection System (R and D).
Abstract
Ground-emplaced acoustic equipment and tech niques developed to detect ballistic missile launchings are described. Ranges up to 1000 miles were obtained. The influence of meteo rological conditions, seasonal changes, and detector-launch orientation are discussed for the purpose of extending the range of detection. Results of correlation techniques, which permit detection under poor signal-to-noise conditions, are presented. (Author)
