SCOUT A.H. MK.1 XP.165 NIMBUS MK.101 ENGINE TROPICAL ENGINE HANDLING TRIALS

Abstract

Engine handling trials were conducted on Scout A.H. Mk.1 XP.165 turbojet engine as part of the Tropical C.A. Release programme. The trials were commenced at Idris Airport Libya but owing to the seasonal reduction in ambient air temperature in mid-September the test aircraft was moved to Khartoum for completion of the hot weather trials. The aircraft was finally positioned at Wilson Field, Nairobi for high altitude performance and handling trials. During the period of the trials ambient air temperature varied between ISA 10 C and ISA 28 C, and where relevant the prevailing temperatures are referred to in the report.
