OPTICAL COHERENCE DEVICE.

Abstract

The design and development of a high-power radiation device consisting of a single-pulse ruby oscilllator feeding parallel banks of ruby laser amplifiers are described. This objective is to be accomplished by developing high-power laser amplifiers and a device to maintain optical coherence between the laser amplifier output pulses. This report describes the results achieved to date on this contract. Theoretical and experimental results are described for both the work carried out on the ruby laser elements and on the phase control system. Conclusions drawn are based on the results of the experiments. Recommendations for future work are also presented. (Author)
