MULTI-MODE TRANSPORTATION NETWORK ANALYSIS,

Abstract

This report describes a comprehensive transportation network model within which both real and potential strategic lift systems can be evaluated in a meaningful way to assist in logistic planning and to povide a quantitative basis for decision on the composition of future logistic lift. Different combinations of airlift and sealift are evaluated in terms of their delivery patterns over time, which are then weighed against cost requirements for each combination. An index is developed for measuring performance of the lift systems. Data processing routines are described and the advantages and disadvantages of the comprehensive network model for logistics planning are discussed. Problem areas for future research to improve the model are outlined. (Author)
