THE EFFECT OF FLOW SEPARATION FROM THE HULL ON THE STABILITY OF A HIGH-SPEED SUBMARINE. PART II. COMPARISONS WITH DATA FOR A SPECIFIC SUBMARINE CONFIGURATION

Abstract

This report presents comparisons between the theory described in Part I and data for the USS Albacore submarine on normal force and pitching moment for the hull alone and the full configuration. The theory predicts the general characteristics of the experimental results, but the detailed agreement was only fair. The effect of the assumed location of the hull flow separation line on the comparisons is discussed. (Author)
