SUBIC: SHIP CONTROL XVI. VOLUME 1. SINGLE OPERATOR SHIP CONTROL FEASIBILITY SIMULATIONS.

Abstract

This report is the first of two reports on the SUBIC/UDOFT(T) project. It describes the work involved in constructing a dynamic mockup of a one-man ship control station for an FBM submarine. It further describes the tests conducted using this mockup. The mockup has permitted a study of the feasibility of single operator control of the major functions now associated with the ballast control and ship control stations. The three main sections of this report cover the engineering design, the computer simulation procedures, and the human factors research program for the feasibility study. (Author)
