ACOUSTIC DETECTION PREDICTION STUDIES, PART 2

Abstract

The technique for developing probability of detection contours described in Acoustic Prediction Studies is discussed in terms of variations introduced by changes in the sound velocity profile. Transmission diagrams are presented to show energy intensity fingerprints. Use of these to determine target range and depth is discussed. A three-dimensional model of propagation loss (and angle of arrival) vs range for specific ray types is introduced. Possible usages of this model are discussed. (Author)
