RESEARCH IN FLUORINE CHEMISTRY

Abstract

The results of a continuing research program concerned primarily with the electrochemical synthesis of chlorine pentafluoride (C1F5) from the hydrogen fluoride-sodium fluoride-chlorine system are summarized. Techniques of voltammetry at linearly changing potentials were utilized to critically examine the role of chlorine at the anode. The circuitry for a potentiostat and a ramp generator, built specifically for the adaptation of voltammetric techniques to this program, are described. The characteristics of a new divided cell are discussed. (Author)
