DEVELOPMENT OF WEAPONS FOR PSYCHOLOGICAL WARFARE

Abstract

The purpose for this research was to investigate the potential of flickering light, sound, and suggestion, singly and in combination, for use in psychological weaponry. A search of the pertinent literature was performed followed by individual and group experimentation. The results obtained demonstrate that potential exists for the use of photic flicker as a weapon. Suggestion was effective in the laboratory but ineffective with military groups in an unemotional setting. Further experimentation with photic flicker singly and in combination with suggestion is warranted. Recommendations for further specific research are provided. (Author)
