F/R-69 DUAL SHIP TEST INSTRUMENTATION AND COMMUNICATIONS REPORT FOR USS ALBANY (CG-10) AND WILLIAM V. PRATT (DLG-13)

Abstract

The instrumentation and communications arrangements employed in the Dual Ship Test are generally applicable to the planned Multiple Ship Tests (MST). Additional emphasis will be applied in the MST test plan to the sound powered and UHF communications planning. The instrumentation setups contained in this memorandum are appropriate for many of the specific tests involved in MST. Intership time synchronization employing a system of routine voice time checks is appropriate to the requirements of MST. Since the standardization of communications magnetic tape recorder and strip recorder speeds will simplify record correlation, the NWL, Dahlgren direct-writing recorders are being modified to enable their operation at a record speed the same as that of the ship's recorders during MST.
