TERMINAL GUIDANCE SIMULATOR STUDY PROGRAM TEST. THE USE OF SECTIONAL AERONAUTICAL CHARTS AS BRIEFING MATERIAL FOR TERMINAL GUIDANCE
Abstract
The information contained on a sectional map is sufficient to allow the operators to perform general orientation functions. The information contained on a sectional map is sufficiently detailed to allow the operator to perform the guidance tasks to a degree of accuracy that allows him to arrive in the general vicinity of the target. The sectional map does not contain information in sufficient detail to allow the operator to differentiate between the target and the area immediately surrounding the target. The degree of accuracy (radial miss distance) is dependent upon the amount of detail required to differentiate between the target and the surrounding area, the amount of information (quantitative and qualitative) available to the operator, and the time available to make the required discriminations.
