RELIABILITY AND MAINTENANCE MAN-HOUR AUDIT OF SEVENTEEN TYPES OF SELECTED IN-SERVICE NAVAL AIRCRAFT

Abstract

Data were extracted from existing squadron flight and maintenance records on 17 selected in-service types of naval aircraft -- for the primary purpose of estimating reliability, in terms of mean time between verified complaints (MTBVC), for the aircraft as weapons systems and for the various aircraft subsystems and lower elements. The results of the data analysis are presented, along with estimated squadron man-hour expenditures incurred during maintenance. Because of the gross nature of the data used and the limited scope of the study, the results were derived without the use of sophisticated statistical calculations. (Author)
