RADIOLOGICAL SAFETY

Abstract

This report contains a narrative description of the activities of Task Unit 7 (TU 7), the Radiological Safety (Rad-Safe) Unit of Task Group 132.1, during Operation Ivy. Chapters are devoted to the general discussion of the organization and activities of the scientific sections necessary to implement an atomic-test radiological-safety organization. The appendices contain specific details of operational procedures. Since radiological safety is a technical service and not a specific scientific program, objectives, procedures, and major results cannot be presented in abstract form other than to say that no serious radiation exposures occurred as a result of Operation Ivy.
