DC CAPACITIVE FUZING SYSTEM FOR SMALL PROJECTILES

Abstract

A study of dc capacitive fuzing schemes for small projectiles (20 and 40mm) was conducted. Due to the packaging limitations of the projectile, it was necessary to use relatively low operating voltages (200-400 volts), which limits the effective charge capacity of the probes. The conclusions drawn from this study are that standoff distances greater then the projectile length cannot be reliably attained. As a result, it was decided that further work on this scheme for small projectiles be terminated. (Author)
