PARAMETRIC CONSIDERATION OF PULSED RADAR FOR ANTISHIP MISSILES.

Abstract

An estimate of the detection range of pulsed-radar guided antiship missiles is made using the simple radar equation in a form that involves independent parameters. Factors that modify the first range estimate include the (1) radar-horizon and transition-range effects and (2) external noise such as sea-clutter echoes and background-clutter echoes. The resulting equations are used in applications to an antiship missile for small targets and in a conjecture regarding the nature of a possible threat to out own ships from antiship missiles.
