EVALUATION OF OPE: A NEW NF PROPELLANT INGREDIENT,

Abstract

A new high energy NF compound, designated OPE, was evaluated with emphasis on its use as a plasticizer for NFPA based propellants. About 1700 grams of OPE, 2500 grams of OPE propellant and 70 10-gram micromotors were prepared and used in the study. Principal areas of investigation were propellant formulation, sensitivity, and ballistic properties. A direct comparison of the OPE results with those of analogous TVOPA compositions was made whenever possible. (Author)
