ADVANCED ROCKET ENGINE--STORABLE.

Abstract

The objective of the ARES (Advanced Rocket Engine, Storable) program is to demonstrate the engineering practicality and performance characteristics of an advanced storable propellant modular engine embodying high chamber pressure and the staged-combustion cycle. This report describes the technical accomplishments of the period which was characterized as one in which many analyses and designs were finished, fabrication of components was initiated and testing accelerated. The most noteworthy accomplishment was the successful hot firing of several full-scale regeneratively cooled thrust chambers at high chamber pressure. (Author)
