STRUCTURAL LOADING TESTS OF Z(X-7A)ZWING AT AMBIENT AND ELEVATED TEMPERATURES.
Abstract
This report covers the structural testing of a TV-7 wing and a TV-12 wing. The wing was mounted in a structural steel fixture and subjected to various combinations of loads. Torque was applied to the TV-7 and TV-12 wings by means of a wooden beam at the wing tip during the torsional hysteresis tests. During combined load tests, torque was applied to the TV-12 wing by a cable attached to the locked aileron, and was also loaded by an air bag to simulate force of as much as 6 G's. Data are presented in the form of graphs and tables to show the interaction of bending and torsion, and the effects of external heating. Conclusions are reached regarding both this series of tests and future test procedure. (Author)
