FLIGHT NO. 30(TV-14)1.

Abstract

The thirtieth in the series of full-scale flights using an X-7A Ramjet Test Vehicle was conducted with vehicle TV-14 on February 24, 1955. Vehicle launch, boost and pull-out, and ramjet ignition were normal and satisfactory. Engine operation was satisfactory for the total engine burning time of 141.8 sec. The highest Mach number attained, at fuel exhaustion, was 2.82 at time 151 sec and 60,300 ft NACA pressure altitude (hereinafter designated altitude). The maximum thrust beam reading attained was 5,350 lbs, and the maximum altitude 60,700 ft. Total flight time was about 600 sec, and the actual flight path distance from release to impact about 122.5 miles. Injury to the vehicle at impact was relatively minor. Vehicle and instrumentation performance were satisfactory. Most of the primary objectives of the flight were realized, and some valuable development information was obtained. (Author)
