Abstract

The Project PEBBLE Study Group investigated the problems of mine warfare as employed and encountered in Phase 2 of Guerrilla Warfare. Mine types covered were: (1) land mines, (2) river mines, (3) shallow-water coastal mines, and (4) limpet mines. Major areas covered by the study were: (1) The Political, Social, Economic and Psychological Environment, (2) Physical Environment, (3) Waterborne Vehicles, (4) Mines and Mining, (5) Mine Countermeasures, and (6) Swimmer and Swimmer Countermeasures. Conclusions and recommendations resulting from the study are presented.
