PLAN FOR Z(XQ-5)ZTARGET TEST FLIGHTZ(2(XQ5-3)1)Z.

Abstract

This test plan is for flight 2(XQ5-3)1, the second of a series of test flights designed to demonstrate the performance and recovery capabilities of the XQ-5 Target System and to provide design evaluation data. This test flight plan is essentially the same as that for flight 1(XQ5-1)1. As a result of flight 1(XQ5-1)1 structural modifications and an improved instrumentation schedule have been incorporated. A standard target has been modified to accomodate test equipment by incorporating a longer nose section. This target is designated XQ5-3. Instrumentation will include one FM/FM and one PWM/FM telemeter system transmitting information from approximately 90 sources. In addition to the telemeter system, cameras in the target, in the launch aircraft, and on the ground will document preflight, inflight, recovery, and postflight operations, characteristics, and conditions. Performance of the target during the test will furnish data to evaluate the test objectives and provide information to be used in planning subsequent flights. (Author)
