PLAN FOR Z(XQ-5)ZDRONE SYSTEM FLIGHTZ(1(XQ5-1)1)Z.

Abstract

This test plan is for the first of a series of 15 flight ests designed to demonstrate the performance and recovery capabilities of the XQ-5 High Supersonic Drone System and to provide design evaluation data. A standard drone has been modified to accommodate test equipment by incorporating a longer nose section. This drone is designated XQ-5-1. Instrumentation will include one FM/FM and one PWM/FM telemeter system transmitting information from approximately 90 sources. In addition to the telemeter system, cameras in the drone, in the launch aircraft and on the ground will document preflight, inflight, recovery and postflight operations, characteristics and conditions. Performance of the drone during the test will furnish data to evaluate the test objectives and provide information to be used in planning subsequent flights. (Author)
