STRUCTURAL DESIGN CRITERIA FOR HIGH SUPERSONIC TARGET DRONE VEHICLE,
Abstract
The structural design criteria presented formulates a general outline of basic parameters, i.e., load factor, speed, altitude, etc., such as to insure the structural integrity of the XQ-5 high supersonic target drone missile. Selection of the pertinent basic parameters is governed by mission fulfillment and appraisal of data obtained from the MX-883 Project. Where applicable, the philosophy established by MIL Specification 5700 series was followed, modified to reflect the differing requirements of missiles as compared with piloted aircraft. This report is dividied into sections as follows: Basic Flight Criteria, Recovery System, Wing Loads, Fuselage Loads, Booster Loads, Horizontal Tail Loads, Vertical Tail Loads, Handling and Transportation, Factor of Safety, and Allowable Stresses.
