ADVANCED ROCKET ENGINE--STORABLE

Abstract

The objective of the ARES (Advanced Rocket Engine, Storable) program is to demonstrate the engineering practicality and the performance characteristics of an advanced storable propellant modular engine embodying high chamber pressure and the staged-combustion cycle. Many analyses and designs were completed, fabrication of many components was completed, and testing accelerated. The most noteworthy accomplishment was the successful hot firing of two different modular injectors using the intensifier test system.
