SAFETY AND RELIABILITY STUDY OF FIRE BOMB FUZES FMU-7A/B AND M173A1,

Abstract

The safety and reliability aspects of the fire bomb fuzes FMU-7A/B and M-173A1 were studied to investigate their application to the proposed FIREYE weapon system. It was concluded that the fuzes do not meet the safety requirements of the design objectives for the FIREYE Fuze. Methods of improving safety without degrading reliability significantly are discussed.
