CHARACTERIZATION AND EVALUATION OF LIGHT METAL HYDRIDES.

Abstract

Evaluation of Beany material of recent production shows distinct improvements in the material's particulate structure. Propellant mixes using the newer materials gave low mix viscosity prior to ball milling. Analytical data are summarized. A Beany double-base propellant was fired in a small motor at low chamber pressure. A significantly lower efficiency was obtained than was measured in a control motor fired under closely similar (mass flow rate, pressure) conditions. Experimental work was continued in obtaining basic data for LMH-1 propellant shelf-life prediction. Initial data on gas generation rates, gas diffusion and solubility are reported. (Author)
