A STUDY OF THE EXPLOSION LIMITS OF SIMPLE DIFLUORAMINO COMPOUNDS.

Abstract

A glass vacuum apparatus and oven was constructed and used to study the decomposition and explosion behavior of 1,2-DP, 2,2-DP and IBA. Analytic data on the decomposition products and the effects of the addition of NO to the DP on the decomposition and explosion is presented. Kinetic data indicate 1,2-DP decomposes heterogeneously while 2,2-DP decomposes homogeneously. Impact sensitivity data is related to explosion sensitivity. A branching chain type mechanism is proposed and discussed for the explosion of the DP compounds. (Author)
