RESEARCH IN FLUORINE CHEMISTRY.

Abstract

This report summarizes the results of research on the synthesis of inorganic fluorine compounds using corona-discharge techniques. The characteristics of the corona discharges are discussed, primarily as a function of energy sources used. The chemical effects of the corona discharge are compared with the chemical effects of the more commonly used low-pressure glow discharge. The results of experiments in systems containing flurine, chlorine, bromine, oxygen, and/or nitrogen are described and discussed. Descriptions of the apparatus and experimental procedures are included. (Author)
