A STUDY OF THE EXPLOSION LIMITS OF SIMPLE DIFLUORAMINO COMPOUNDS.

Abstract

Explosion limits of 1,2- and 2,2-DP were measured at pressures up to 200mm by rapid immersion of a flask containing a measured liquid volume in a heated salt bath. The existence of a thermal cutoff temperature to the explosions limit confirmed a rather unique type of branched-chain mechanism. The effect of various inert and chemical additives to the DP on the explosion limit is discussed and analyzed in light of this mechanism. High pressure mixtures of 1,2- and 2,2-DP explosion limits are in excellent agreement with the theory. (Author)
