RESEARCH IN HIGH-ENERGY OXIDIZERS.

Abstract

Samples of F2C(ONF)2 did not detonate in the impact tester. The compound was stable to concentrated H2SO4, reacted slowly with methanol and faster with methoxide ion. F2C(ONF2)2 was also prepared using CsF, RbF and mixed KF.NaF to complex the difluoramine, and by flow reactions but the yields were not improved significantly. The generality of the KF.HNF2 reaction with OF compounds was tested with CF3OF, CF3CF(OF)2 and FOCF2ONF2 and all formed the corresponding -CONF2 compound, the last in 80-percent yield. However, (FOCF2O-)2 decomposed over the complex. A variety of methods studied did not yield significant quantities of ONF2 compounds. The ion-molecule reactor was completed but proved to be too insensitive to detect the necessary ions without some additional modifications. The structure of the ClF5- AsF5 complex was studied with F19 n.m.r. No evidence for free ClF4(+) was found.
