EVALUATION OF HIGH-ENERGY BINDER.

Abstract

Thermal stability of PBEP and PBEP propellants were studied. Excesses of the curative or crosslinks, and most burning rate catalysts increased the weight loss of PBEP and PBEP propellants. The effect of various stabilizers were evaluated. Studies of the LMH-1, HAP system continues to show promise. Burning rate studies gave a burning rate of 2.0 in./sec at 1,000 psi in a catalyzed PBEP propellant. Cure problems were encountered in scaling up PBEP propellant to a two-quart mixer. Work is continuing to achieve a satisfactory cure. (Author)
