ENGINEERING PROPERTY DATA ON ROCKET PROPELLANTS.

Abstract

The second quarter-year's effort of a 24-month analytical and experimental extension of a previous program, designed to characterize essential propellant properties, is presented in three phases. In Phase I, the continuous documentation of current propellant properties data is being maintained through a literature survey. Experimental efforts under Phase II have resulted in completion of measurements of sonic velocity in ClF5 and (CH3)2N2H2 thermal conductivity. Initial measurements of ClF3 sonic velocity, N2(g) solubility in ClF5, and MHF-3 thermal conductivity are continuing. In addition, apparatuses to determine 50 N2H4 - 50 (CH3)2N2H2 specific heat and ClF5 viscosity are undergoing operational checkout and calibration. Phase III efforts resulted in preparation of a bibliography of N2H4 properties. (Author)
