MOLECULAR SUBSTITUTION STUDIES.

Abstract

It is postulated that changing the chemical environment of unstable NF moieties may yield new energetic materials which have desirable properties. Known high-energy species are being used for the synthesis of NF compounds. Reactions involving the mixture of mercurials obtained from FN(Cl)CO2-iPr and Hg with acetyl chloride and with bromine yielded CH3CONFCO2-iPr and FN(Br)CO2-iPr, respectively. Attempts to prepare iPr-O2CNFNFCO2-iPr, and the cations N2F5(+) and C(NF2)3(+) in the form of their SbF6(-) salts were unsuccessful. (Author)
