ENGINEERING PROPERTY DATA ON ROCKET PROPELLANTS.
Abstract
The third quarter-year's effort of a 24-month analytical and experimental extension of a previous program, designed to characterize essential propellant properties, is presented in three phases. In Phase I, the continuous documentation of current propellant properties data is being maintained through a literature survey. Experimental efforts under Phase II have resulted in completion of measurements of sonic velocity in ClF3 and MHF-3 thermal conductivity; final curve fits of the experimental data have been established for ClF5 sonic velocity and compressibility, and ClF3 sonic velocity. Initial measurements of 50 N2H4-50 (CH3)2N2H2 specific heat have been conducted. Preparations are being made to conduct MHF-5 thermal conductivity measurements and additional inert gas solubility determinations in ClF5. A capillary viscometer, to be used in the measurement of ClF5 viscosity, has been partially calibrated. Phase III efforts resulted in preparation of N2H4 physical property data sheets. (Author)
