INVESTIGATION OF DECOMPOSITION CATALYSTS FOR 98% HYDROGEN PEROXIDE

Abstract

A series of materials were prepared and tested as decomposition catalysts for 98% H2O2. Thirty different compositions were pelletized at high pressure and heat treated. Extent of reaction between the components was indicated by x-ray diffraction patterns. Catalytic activity was measured by a standard flood test with 10 ml. of 98% H2O2. Mechanical strength and susceptibility to leaching and erosion were observed. Catalyst materials and a modified 40 pound thrust motor were prepared for the motor test program.
