INTEGRATED COMBAT GROUP COMPONENTS EXPERIMENT, PHASE I. VOLUME II -- COMBAT SURVEILLANCE.

Abstract

PENTANA-type combat surveillance was the basis of the Integrated Combat Group Components Experiment. The purposes of combat surveillance experimentation were examination and development of an organization for the combat surveillance system of the combat group; development of procedures for control of the system; and development of techniques for the processing, display, and dissemination of information. Before an examination of the surveillance system could be undertaken, it was necessary to investigate operational and organizational concepts and to assemble basic data on combat surveillance device operations which were to be played in later experimentation. As the preliminary experimentation did not lend itself to a combined operation it was divided into two separate parts: Surveillance Center Operation and Surveillance Device Response Tests. The results of these experiments were used as basic input to the main experiment.
