HEAT TRANSFER STUDY OF COMPOUND A.

Abstract

This report summarizes the work performed during the first quarter of an experimental program in which the heat transfer characteristics of Compound A are to be investigated. The work during this reporting period has consisted of equipment buildup and the compilation of Compound A physical properties. Testing with Compound A flowing in electrically heated tubes at subcritical and supercritical pressures is planned for the next quarter. Values of density, specific heat, thermal conductivity, and viscosity have been established from existing data for pressures up to 5000 psia and temperatures up to 1300 F, and are presented in graphical form. The critical properties and vapor pressure are also presented and the potential dissociation of Compound A is discussed.
